Nick Hurd served as a Member of Parliament in the UK for fourteen years. During that time he served three different Prime Ministers as a UK Government Minister for nine years. As one of the longest serving Minister for Civil Society, he led the Government work that helped establish the UK as a world leader in developing the impact investment market. That included the setting up of Big Society Capital as the first impact investment wholesaler, and the establishment of the first social outcome funds to support Social Impact Bonds. Having stepped out of politics in December 2019, he is the Chair of the Access Foundation for Social Investment; a Global Ambassador for the GSG , and serves on the Advisory Council for the UK Institute for Impact Investment.
