WHY FOCUS ON AN IMPACT NARRATIVE?

As the impact investing movement continues to gain traction, the impact community does not speak with a unified voice about the impact opportunity. This reduces awareness, creates confusion and slows our momentum. Having better and more consistent ways of telling our story will give added momentum for impact investing to truly go mainstream. This is essential in order to bring about transformative impact for people and planet and to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

WHAT IS THIS INITIATIVE ABOUT?

Market building organisations, such as the GSG’s National Advisory Boards, often struggle to convince financial institutions and governments around the world to put their full support behind impact investing. This initiative addresses the concerns and opportunities we’ve uncovered amongst these communities.

The GSG has convened 70 professionals from the impact investing ecosystem. This group has curated and drafted resources to help address common concerns faced by financial institutions and governments with regards to impact investing.

AN ONGOING PROCESS

Impact investing is still a relatively new approach for some asset managers, asset owners, and governments. As such, there are differing views on the definitions of impact-related terminology, where the boundaries of impact investing are, and even what impact means now. We will do our best to be transparent about differences of opinion. The GSG will work with the industry on these bigger topics. In the meantime, we welcome your thoughts on these resources as we work with the ecosystem to get clarity and consensus.
